The Soon To Be Post-Season Tampa Bay Rays

We just wanted to let everyone to know eHarmony contacted us and wanted us to participate in a promotion at the Rays vs. Red Sox game on the 17th of September. eHarmony averages 236 marriages every day and they decided to celebrate that. We will be given Press Level tickets for the game and will be asked to participate in the promotion. We cannot wait. Not only do we get to celebrate our eHarmony match, but we also get to see our Rays (who are #1 in the American League) play the World Series Champs, the Boston Red Sox, and sweep them again..

And to all the Pezoldts out there, Go Cubbies! (who are #1 in the National League) We would love to see you in the World Series with the Rays. (So we can talk trash)
Love, Shannon & Robert

Music

OK, The wedding is getting closer and closer, we need you all to give us your personal requests for songs for the reception. So far, Jeanne is the only one to make a suggestion. Once, we load up the music for the wedding, that will be it. So if there is anything you all want, PLEASE let us know.

Thanks,
Shannon & Robert

Lots Of Random Thoughts.

Yesterday we went to Brooksville to the vet for Robert's cat. We have decided to let them be 'outside kitties' instead of trying to find homes for them. There is a great place called PET LUV in Brooksville, which provides VERY reasonable vet care. We had one of his cats spayed for $25! Anyway, I've only been to Brooksville twice before the vet experiences, and both were for funerals of parents of a dear friend of mine. We went to an AMAZING place called Mallie Kyla's Cafe. There was a second one in Dade City, but it closed a few years ago. Eating there brought back so many memories of lunches in Dade City with Jeanne and this afore mentioned dear friend, who was my mentor, friend and angel. She and Jeanne are THE reasons I came to hospice and stayed there, even though she moved to Georgia and now Colorado within a year or me starting hospice. Well, low and behold, she called me yesterday afternoon after at least a year of not hearing from her!! Rhoda is her name, and being an inspirational angel is her game!! I was SO excited to hear from her, and it was SO amazing that she called on that day! I don't think she will be able to come to the wedding, but if some miracle happens and plane fare plummets, she and Tom will come.
Another random idea: I am having THE best time seeing where people are from that are viewing our site. We have 4 foreign countries right now, and you can see what they typed in to get your site. Most people are searching for muffelletta sandwich (the New Orleans sandwich that Robert cooked for me when we first started dating.) But some are quiet strange. I don't want to offend anyone, but the following are 2 ways that people found our site: 1) Obviously a kid from South Africa typed in "Getting muff for the first time" and you ask "How did this pull up your site?" Well, our site is named We're 'Getting' married! Post: Cooking for each other 'for the first time' 'muffelletta'. Pretty hilarious huh!! 2) Someone from Denmark was obviously looking up wardrobe malfunctions and typed in "Nips oops." and got our site. "How?" you ask? If you read Dana's comment on meeting Robert for the first time, she was breastfeeding and had "nips" problems. I feel really bad for these guys, because I don't think our site was quite what they were looking for!!!
Well, thanks for reading my ramblings. I'll probably add more later. Oh, the plans for the wedding are coming along wonderfully. There is still a lot to do, but we are getting them done. We have our first premarital meeting with our pastor Mac tomorrow. We are trying to get some of Robert's big stuff moved so he can get his place ready to sell soon. Someone is already interested!! Keep us in your thoughts and prayers!

She is Now Truly Mine!

Apparently, we had one more thing to clear up before October 11th. Let me just send the explanation Marcus sent me, it explains it nicely.

"Way back in 1990, Shannon scoffed at my stated intention of going to medical school and becoming an anesthesiologist. She was so certain, that she drew up the following contract. As it turns out, she was right. However, in order for your marriage to be completely unencumbered, I need to release her from this contract."

O.k., now what am I supposed to think about this? Personally, I think it's totally hilarious. The stories and memories being brought up while writing this blog have been great. I am sure more are just around the corner.

Thanks for the help (and release) on this one Marcus,

P.s. Damn that was the day before my 20th B-day

Our Trip to Miami

O.K., I know I mainly do the historical archiving here on the site, but I had to share our trip with you. The quest was on for my Guayabera shirt for the wedding. Being a cook, and with my love of Cuban food, I frequent iCuban.com, and the Three Guys From Miami website. (Love their cookbooks also). Well, on the site I read about this man, Ramón Puig, who came from Cuba 40 years ago and makes (hand makes), traditional Guayaberas. Everyone who knows me knows that I could not pass up going to La Casa de Las Guayaberas. Wow, I can't say much more than that. I found my shirt. The place is located at 5840 SW 8th Street and SW59th Ave. (A.K.A Calle Ocho), in the Opera Plaza. Here is a link to a New Times review, as well as a link to a Miami Herald review. Shannon also had a great find in a dress that she can change into when the wedding gown gets a little restricting. She got an amazing deal on it but had to pay the price of waiting in a line for 45 minutes while a woman bought more clothes and handbags than you have EVER seen at one time. Shannon and Dana also had time to work on some of the flower arranging and other dress buying. But the main reason for the trip was Ryan's B-day. Mason's was last week (being that they are 4 days apart). I does get tough trying to make both birthday's every year, as both of them mean the world to us both.

More Hotels/Motels

It looks like we picked a popular time to get married or have an event at Treasure Island. There are family reunions and church meetings, so a lot of the rooms are already booked, so here are a few more hotels to check into:
**Warning: I have not personally seen any of these hotels.**
Treasure Bay Hotel and Marina
Best Western Sea Castle Suites
Satellite Motel
Trails End Motel
These are all within 2 miles of the beach house. Hopefully this will help!
Love, Shannon

PS- I got word today of another nice hotel the Page Terrace Hotel. One of my co-workers stayed there and said it was nice and clean. It is closer than the Bilmar.

The Birth of Our Nephews and the Joy of Our Nieces

One of the most amazing things we experienced together was the birth of our nephews and getting to know each other's nieces. I, personally, am so excited about Mason and Ryan meeting for the first time. As a strange coincidence, Shannon's nephew Ryan was born 4 days after my nephew Mason. They will, of course, both be ring bearers at the ceremony. Best way to describe Mason is just like his dad, sneaky, always plotting and pushing the boundaries of what he can get away with. Best way to describe Ryan, the consummate people person/politician ("Hey T.J.!"). This could be a scary thing getting these two together. Just another coincidence is the fact that both our nieces will be the flower girls. Now just a little fact about the nieces and nephews, both nieces are darker complexion, brown hair and brown eyes. The nephews are both blond hair and blues eyes. We could not have planned this. This is going to be such an amazing time as our families get to meet and know one another. BTW, we get to celebrate Mason and Ryan's B-days these next two weekends. On another kind of weird, and quirky note. Shannon's niece, Nicole and my niece Rian (O.K., yet another weird coincidence) share birthdays just days apart. In fact, I share the same B-day as my niece and sister-in-law. This just has to be meant to be. I tell you one thing though, these girls can cook, both Rian and Nicole have helped me out many times making everything from sushi, to mussels and even frog legs. Both girls have no quams about cleaning shellfish. Now again with the kinda opposites, Mason will damn near eat anything, mussels and catfish and even raw onions. On the other hand Ryan is a severely finicky eater. It's amazing the diversity of these wonderful little people. You can't help but laugh. We love them so.

BTW, Shannon is on her way back from the scouting mission for all of you planning to stay on the beach. We will post something in a little bit reagarding what they found out. You may also noticed a change in the line up of hotel links to the left.

Robert

Hey! It's Shannon,
We looked at the hotels. The Molloy and Jefferson motel are a BIG no! SCARY!! The Island Inn Resort is nice. It is 1/2 mile from the beach house. There are not a lot of rooms left. The Suncoast motel was nice, but they have no rooms for that weekend. The Beachside Palms is a small motel that is adorable. It only has 5 or 6 rooms and no pool, but is very 'bed and breakfast' like. The Bilmar beach resort is 1 1/2 miles from the beach house and is really big, so there should be plenty of rooms. It is nice. We stayed there for Dana's bachelorette party. Just wanted to let y'all know what we saw!

Love, Shannon
