Tampa: Center of the world!

Well, Tampa is about to be in the spotlight with the Superbowl coming soon.  We also have Gasparilla going on the weekend before and after.  I can remember the day when I would have been right up in the middle of all the festivities.  Parties, beads, pirates, and fun, fun, FUN!!!  And CROWDS!!!  Stinky, drunk, puking, obnoxious mobs of gropey people!  I'm not up for it right now.  I'm not sure if it is a phase, or if I have, I dare say, grown out of this type of stuff!!!  I love to have fun, but I like to have fun with people I know in wide open areas, on my terms.  Yes, we grope each other, but I know these people!  If you doubt it, see bachelorette pics from earlier post.
It's no longer fun to be packed elbow to elbow with strangers and wondering "who just grabbed my ass/chest/monkey???"   It's not a "old married woman" thing either.  I haven't been to Gasparilla in 4 years since my friend Johnny came down.  I had fun.  We put beads all over cars and had a blast.  The older I get the more I hate driving around drunk people.  Anyway, I will be enjoying the festivities from my home, with my cloud pj's on and not crowded!!!  Maybe someday I will get back in the party mode, but not this Gasparilla!!  Love, Shannon

To be perfectly honest, I've felt this way pretty much my entire life. With the exception of a really great concert, or our local Mardi Gras parades (which are crowded, but not drunk-pushy-obnoxious crowded), I would much rather be somewhere with a small group of friends rather than in a crowd of strangers.

Of course, I've always been an old man at heart, so maybe you are just becoming an old woman......

I thought of the perfect example.... You remember that time that I was at your house for Catfish Festival, and ended up staying at your house and bartending for your parents' class reunion, rather than going out? I had a great time doing it, and was much more comfortable than going out.

Like I said, I've always been old at heart. I just really dislike the fact that my body is now catching up with my mind......

Damn Marcus, your up late! It's Robert. I agree with you both. I can't do the all night thing (funny, I am posting this at 2:30 a.m.)the drinking and partying. It's just not the same. Instead of calling it getting old, could it be wisdom?

It's a rarity that I'm in the bed before 2 or 3 AM. Sometimes, even after 4. I've always been a night owl.

I was just watching Alton Brown make Steak au Poivre, and now I'm hungry! I've never made it before, but it will be appearing on my dinner table sometime this week. I doubt that I actually buy a whole tenderloin and cut the steaks myself, but I simply must try that amazing pepper-cream sauce.
